Voice Chat
Mumble is a free, open source, low-latency, high quality voice chat software primarily intended for use while gaming. If you have a microphone, this is the best way to keep in touch with the community. Get Mumble!
Add the Zendeath server:
- Label: Zendeath
- Address: mumble.zendeath.com
- Port: 64738
- Username: YourName (No spaces!)
- Password: Leave Blank
Configure your Mumble client:
- Go to Configure -> Settings to open the Mumble Configuration window
- On the Basic Audio tab, set Transmit to Push To Talk
- On the Shortcuts tab, click the text box next to Push-to-Talk and press a key
- From now on, you will hold that key to activate your microphone.
- Click OK to confirm these settings
Text Chat
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of real-time Internet chat primarily intended for group (many-to-many) communication. There is a multitude of different IRC clients available for every kind of computer, but the most popular one is mIRC. Get mIRC!
Add the Zendeath channel:
- Open the mIRC Options window (Tools -> Options, or press Alt-O).
- The Connect panel is open by default. Fill in your information.
- Open the Servers panel from the Category list on the left.
- Scroll down in the server list until you see "GameSurge". Double-click to expand the folder. Choose EU if you're in Europe, otherwise choose Random Server. Click Select.
- You should now be back at the screen with your name. click Connect to Server.
- After connecting to GameSurge, open the Channels List. It's the 3rd icon from the left on your toolbar.
- Click the Add button, and in the Channel field, enter "#zendeath".
Create a GameSurge account:
- Click here and fill out the registration form.
- Within a few minutes, you should receive an e-mail at the address you entered. Copy the password to your clipboard.
- Connect to the GameSurge network via mIRC, and get in the Status channel that opens automatically when you connect.
- Send the following message with the username you registered and the password from the email:
/authserv auth [username] [password]
- You should now see a message that says, "I recognize you". This means you have logged in.
- To change your password, send this message:
/authserv pass [password] [new password]
Configure your mIRC client:
- You can configure mIRC to automatically authorize and join channels.
- Open the mIRC Options window (Tools -> Options, or press Alt-O).
- Open the Options panel from the Category list on the left.
- Click the Perform button.
- Check the box to enable perform on connect, then enter the following perform commands:
/msg AuthServ@Services.GameSurge.net AUTH [username] [password]
/join #zendeath
